Struggling with Emotional Numbness

Currently massively struggling with feelings as in literally not having them, my mental health mostly my depression has been bad for the past few months so it's probably related to that but I really don't know how to get my feelings back.

I can relate… sometimes i can feel the emptiness in my eyes and when people talk to me i barely listen. It’s like i’m a ghost or a zombie but i can’t help it. I think my body is just exhausted from feeling so much. Sending love

I understand completely. I'm struggling with feeling like I'm just a shell & empty.

The numbness could be from medication, did it start since your new (ish) antidepressant? May be worth bringing it up with your doctor. But if it started when your brain started getting bad again it might be your brain trying to not feel all the stuff so you don't have to face it. Taking time for yourself just to try sit with your feelings, maybe with yoga or your other meditation stuff might help

I feel that. Everything just seems null or numb. It usually passes with time though, and it may help to find something you really like or are interested in and fixate on it for a while!

that's the thing I literally just feel like a shell of a person I don't have any interests I can't start anything new because I have no motivation (I have tried various types of things) although I do keep trying because maybe something will take! Thank you so much for your advice though!

I get this a lot, I find that I have to ride it out and wait for me to start feeling things again. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful

thanks anyway, sometimes it's helpful to know I'm not the only one feeling (or rather not) like this

I take vortioxetine and amitriptyline for my depression (amitriptyline is also to help me sleep and for my migraines too) but I'm not really capable of much else at the minute as it takes all of my energy just to get through what I need to in a day.
