I was diagnosed in July I have now been taken off the meds for my diabetes I've lost 40 lb with light exercise and very little change in my diet besides cutting out a lot of sugar drinks. You got this don't stress and what you eat it's a in moderation

Beans are good... Lentils chickpeas, red beans, make sure you soak the chickpeas and red beans overnight for less bloating and gas, eating fruit in the morning is a good detox to the body especially fruits that have a lot of water content, especially apples, pears, peaches, and your melons

One suggestion is to find your "safe" foods and eat small amounts in hopes it won't affect you much. Deep breathing or meditating before and/or after eating can help. Eating with other people, even if it's over the phone, can also be beneficial. Getting on a routine can help as well. Another unconventional way that has been suggested is watching videos of how people eat around the world and seeing that things outside of your safe foods are not going to hurt you. This might take time but it's definitely possible.
