Struggling with Depression: How to Keep Going?

What helps you function during long depressive episodes? I’m a full time student working part time on top of school and an internship and I feel completely hopeless. My depression is about to cost me my job, it’s wrecked my GPA, and caused me to withdraw from 2 semesters of classes, ultimately pushing back my graduation date an entire year. I desperately need to get back on my feet so I can finish my degree and stay on top of my bills, but I just can’t get myself to do anything.

It sounds like you're simply taking on too much at this time. Depression is worsened by too much stress. You still need to take care of yourself. Eat, drink water, and go outside for 2 minutes a day. It helps a lot more than you'd think. Don't worry so much about WHAT you're putting in....just eat. Take it one day at a time. You're human. It happens. But know that you're doing a lot more than what you think you are. College is hard. Work is hard. Even taking care of yourself is hard. But, honestly, the only way to build yourself back up is to take care of yourself. You're worth taking care of. Don't let it fall to the wayside
