I made it three semesters before it going so horribly I picked up a new addiction and went to rehab. I have three learning disabilities and a few mental illnesses, and at the time my chronic illnesses were starting to break my body. Just trying to figure out what my professors wanted and getting work done on time was a huge issue. I had no accommodations and overworked myself to a very dangerous level. If i didnt have to retake classes that taught what they did in high school and skipped ahead to the stuff important to my degree I wouldve done amazing. I knew there was no hope when I explained how I do my math to my professor and she didnt even attempt to help me the way I needed. College puts so many unnecessary barriers in the way for us and most of the time its to make money and maintain their idea of intelligent.

I tried going to a university in another state and I ended up having to withdraw. I couldn’t handle it at all. I enrolled in a community college and I would constantly struggle in all my classes. I failed a few classes and had to retake them but I will say I did graduate with a General Studies Degree (barely, but I did). After I graduated, I decided to not go to a university because I was scared I was setting myself up for failure. I want to go back to pursue my career dreams but I’m too scared. I never got the help I needed in college (had no idea I was on the spectrum until I was 24-25) so that makes a huge difference. Feel free to DM anytime if you’d like to talk more about it.
