Struggling with Chronic Illness: Seeking Advice on Lupus Symptoms

So, I have adrenal fatigue since 2014 and since January 2020 have been getting sick frequently over the last 2 years (once to twice a month). I get inflammation in my feet and legs, fingers and hands, and sometimes all up and down my body. the sickness lasts longer than most and is harder to recover from than most people. I have had small boils on my chest (January 2020) which have gone away, chronic reflux, blood clot in my left leg and pulmonary embolism May 2021, anemia December 2021, got pneumonia in April 2022 and then a week later Thrush in my mouth as well as a rash on my chest. I saw a different doctor than my regular doctor for the pneumonia, Thrush, and rash. He wondered about diabetes but my blood sugar is fine. since then I have seen my normal doctor and he doesn't seem to think there is a problem. I need HELP! What blood tests did your doctor run to find lupus and what are some of the symptoms you have?

The blood test is the ANA ( Antinuclear antibody (ANA) test.) My first visit with a Rheumatologist they took 32 tubes of blood.

I had that done back in February of 2021. It came back positive so he sent me to a rheumatologist. The rheumatologist did blood work but said the ana looked fine. Idk?

I failed the ANA test and went thru 12 rheumatologists not exaggerating and finally I found a one that diagnosed me with SLE and stands by the fact that it’s extremely rare but possible to have auto immune disorders and not pass the ANA. I’m still trying to find meds that help but I have only been diagnosed since November last year and for the longest time my family said I was lazy and just wanted to sleep to for kicks and giggles and they still think it’s all in my head. I haven’t seen or talked to anyone in my family since. I’ve never been happier 😌

I had the same thing happen where I didn't show the traditional signs in bloodwork but my doctor was smart enough to look at the evidence and few other blood things like my complements to feel confident in giving the diagnosis. So sorry to hear your family is unsupportive since this is a hard thing to come to terms with, but I'm really glad your doing well! Genuinely such peace of mind to get a diagnosis 😌

Woops was replying to Summer2022, but the first part should still be useful general info
