Struggling with Bipolar Disorder: Is There a Light at the End of the Tunnel?

I have bipolar disorder along with other mental illnesses. Sometimes I don't know which way is up. I experience different symptoms all the time and I often don't remember them, piece them together and why I try I kind of drive myself nuts trying to figure out what's wrong with my and trying to help myself. I'm just so lost. I have gotten better with therapy and meds but is there ever a light at the end of the tunnel?

There’s definitely a light! I was living with a “depression” diagnosis for nearly five years before getting my bipolar diagnosis. It took me three mental health hospitalizations to get where I am. I finally, for the first time in my life, feel like a normal human being. I’ve been on lamotrigine for nearly three years now and it was a life changer. That’s not to say that my life is EASY now, but it’s definitely far less bleak. It’s important to be honest with your doctors so they can help you get on the right medication. Sometimes it takes a few trials. I promise you it will get easier, but you need to be your own advocate. It’s okay to be selfish sometimes, and your mental health is valid. I wish you the best of luck in your future, and I believe in you!
