Struggling with Autism Sensory Issues

Does anyone else with autism really struggle with the sensory issues that come with having something like a cold? I just get so irrationally angry and frustrated because my nose won’t stop running or something like that :(

The only thing I hate is when my nose gets stopped up. Thankfully, the last time I was sick I discovered Afrin. I can deal with everything else but when my nose is stopped up it feels like I'm dying or something.

Definitely. Colds/flus/fevers, and tbh any virus or sickness, seem to increase my sensory sensitivity and decrease my tolerance. It’s hell on earth, especially the sore skin feeling that comes with flus 😭

I used to meltdown all the time when I had a blocked nose at nighttime while trying to sleep. Also gunk in my throat drives me insane

For me not really. However when I am cold it's like everything I touch feels terrible. Especially when I'm cold and then touch paper like DANG paper in general feels terrible but touching it while being cold is like insta overload. On top of that, everything else i touch makes it worse and worse until I can calm down

Yes! I end up in an absolute rage if my nose is running, it’s a complete sensory overload and I cannot concentrate on anything else. I hate it. I also cannot STAND being in the company of anyone else who has a cold. Not just because of my other conditions that it makes worse but because of the extra noises they make.

Oh yeah. All the time. I can't stand the sensation of when snot dries and hardens in your nose... But most of the time you can't just blow it out once it dries but it feels gross to pick. So I just get frustrated
