I've tried different medications for years to treat my depression and have only recently started treatment that has shown signs of helping. Everyone reacts to psych meds differently so it may take some time to find the right one or ones for you. Try not to be discouraged if the first few you try aren't effective.

You'll probably be prescribed some kind of antidepressant and it's good you have therapy. If that doesn't work they may try a cocktail of sorts with maybe a mood stabilizer. Last resort is usually a benzodiazepine such as klonopin or Ativan. Sadly, those are the only drugs that truly completely melt my crippling anxiety. It makes you feel light as a feather without all the tension in your body. Anyway, don't go asking for that now haha
