I found out at age 35( I'm nearly 73)that I had bilateral kidney disease, bad.Had both upper poles removed after treatment if two years. I've been fighting anemia since age 4,not knowing why back then. I can't keep my numbers up,even with taking an Iron supplement to every day Anyone have any suggestions as to to other treatment that my nephrologist may listen to? I'm tired of not having little to no energy. I've concluded that CKD has effected my heart. No scientific research on this.Just putting 2+2 together. The National Kidney Foundation has no answers.

      I've even asked for a B12 shot,but, didn't get it.

@DaniBear How low were your numbers? Mine aren't that low.Like 11.7 but other kidney numbers are off chronically, but,no one listens.Just tell me to take otc iron and diet.. I've done this all my life and I'm just tired of hearing the same thing. You know,if you keep doing the same thing and expect different results, do something different? Why don't Drs understand that?

@MommaJo yeah 11.7 actually is on the okay level for hemoglobin. the scale on my tests for good goes from 11.5 to 15.8. mine was always 8 to 10 on dialysis so diet changes or pills wouldn’t help me at all. sadly i kind of agree with your doctors since your level isn’t too concerning. diet is a huge part of kidney health and is half the battle with chronic kidney disease.
