Struggling with ADHD without medication

Recently diagnosed with ADHD. Not on any meds yet. I’m trying to navigate without as I have an history with addiction. However, I’m struggling with all of it. Executive disfunction, object permanence, constant picking, intrusive thoughts. Is there anything anyone can recommend that is not meds that may help me with this. Or do I just need to bite the bullet and get a script?

Thank you all so much! I’ll try all these things until I can get into the doc and go from there.

I’ve also been on Provigil and that isn’t a physical stimulant it just works with the awake receptors in your brain- it is a schedule IV so it’s low chance of abuse- it helped me too.

So there is this nootropic drink called DOSE I actually alternate that with my Adderall so I don’t have to take the Adderall every day and it works great- I would say ALMOST as good as the Adderall. Highly recommend it. It is designed to help you focus and have non- jittery energy and stamina. Very high quality ingredients and nothing addictive. I think it’s all natural.

I am on meds ,but I had to deal so long with out them , and had to act like a nerotypical person. -positive saying helped or pretending to be something or always smiling has made me always smile (I know it's not great) - breathing , there's a good breathing app to help focus or wake up or get you to bed and anxiety ease or calm if your focusing to hard on something -sticky notes everywhere so not forgetting or hiding helpful quote or nice things to make you smile on those bad days -do a paragraph at the end on the day or week so you can try and understand times that you'll know to get a hug or corset ( I'll explain if you want)

Thank you! I’ll mention that to my doc and request a nonstimulant.
