Struggling with ADHD Medication

anyone else completely resistant to stimulants? i've been trialing a ton of medications for adhd and chronic fatigue, but nothing has been working. i've tried both adderall and ritalin, but just fell asleep after taking them and only got anxious after increasing the dose. right now i'm trying modafinil and it isn't giving me any bad side effects, but it still isn't helping either. caffeine has always made me tired and i know that stimulants can have a similar reaction with adhd, but the problem i'm trying to address is my executive dysfunction and severe fatigue/drowsiness. but nothing has been able to so much as wake me up a little bit, it's really frustrating 😞 the constant brain fog and depersonalization that comes with this is too much

No ADHD medications have done anything for me except for Vyvanse, I'd recommend looking into Vyvanse if it isn't one you've tried already

I feel like this with Ritalin. Adderall works better but it’s not a cure or anything… ugh I have cptsd too so I really wonder sometimes if it’s because that’s really the issue. Rn I’m going through something difficult as fuck and I just hate that meds can’t touch me.

yeah exactly! that's the other thing, when you've got a ton of other stuff going on and have no idea where exactly the symptoms are coming from 😔 especially when you're in the middle of a rough spot

I used to respond well to adderall but then they put me on Ritalin in high school (too early) and it destroyed my ability to process any ADHD medications. Have you tried tackling it from any lifestyle/organization perspectives? Its essentially all I have to use and while it isn't always enough it might help for the time being to get you a little more on track while you're still trying out medications. Test out to see if there are any foods that help/hurt, try planner apps, alarms, and plan out adequate breaks and down time along with your tasks to recover and give you a refocusing point.
