New here, struggling with ADHD and depression

Hi! New here. I'm an adult who struggles with mostly untreated Adhd. I am also working on my depression and weight loss goals. I am trying this out hoping to find new strategies to cope and talking with doctors.

Hi I'm new here too! Like you I believe I have adhd but have not been officially diagnosed and attempting to lose weight as well. Last year I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. It's been a journey trying to keep things in tact but if I can offer any advice I'm happy to share. Feel free to ask away.

Talking with doctors.. just know that, that first get-to-know-each-other session, and likely several sessions after that, it's going to be uncomfortable. It's just a weird thing, honestly. It's always weird seeing someone initially, even if you've flown through psychiatrists or therapists like a mf, but after time, you should start to grow comfortable with them. If your unease does not begin to lift, it is so important that you say something. Not everyone clicks. They know that. They understand. And they will try and try again to match you with someone you'll feel good with. Please, please speak up if it isn't working!

The talking with doctors seems to be difficult for me. I tend to mask because I'm afraid they won't believe me. That I am shopping for drugs. I only take what I must. I feel like pharmaceuticals are like a lesser evil. I wish I didn't have to take any.

I honestly thought the same for years, but the truth is any doctor who makes you feel bad or uncomfortable for asking for appropriate help is not a doctor you want to be around. You need what’s best for you and the right doctor will see that and do their best for you
