Struggling to Stop Hair Pulling

I have been pulling out my eyebrows for over 10 years now. I really want to stop but I wouldn’t even know where to look to figure out my first step. I’m tired of the constant comments and teasing from family. Anyone have anything that worked for them?

Probiotics helped a little, but I have a pretty severe case of trichotillomania. Probiotics made my nail biting go away completely but it just took my hair pulling from about 100 hairs per day to several dozen. Still a lot. Mirtazapine took the hair pulling all the way down to about 1 hair per day on average. Probiotics: look for something with at least 10 billion CFU and multiple strains Mirtazapine: talk to your doctor, I'm on 30 mg, has side effects of tiredness and increased appetite at lower doses but they actually go away when you get up to the higher doses (30-45 mg).

this is gonna sound really weird but sewing with my hands really helped. reducing the number of stressors in my life was also majorly beneficial, although I still relapse every time I have a nasty pain flare

I picked up crochet recently because I definitely pull less if I’m doing something with my hands but I want to be able to like watch tv and relax sometimes but I always end up pulling. It’s just so satisfying in a way nothing else is.

Probiotics have helped me, and I know a lot of people have had success with NAC.

does this help with faster repair of the hair or to help reduce the urge?
