Struggling to Sleep with a Heavy Mind

How do you get sleep when sleep meds aren’t working & there’s something constantly on your mind pulling into your depression? I had to stay awake (today until like 4pm) until I couldn’t be awake anymore. I hadn’t slept in 3 days, and just felt myself reliving every second of what’s upset me.

The Mythbusters did an episode where they proved that lying down with your eyes closed for a while actually helps refresh your brain almost as much as sleeping! So if you really can't sleep, maybe trying to lay there for a bit would help? It works even if you're thinking about stuff, you don't have to clear your mind like if you were meditating. Best of luck!

I’m struggling with the same thing, it is the most frustrating thing. Even when you aren’t actually sleeping, just resting your body and eyes is helpful. Deep breaths, happy memories, and maybe even get a stress ball. I also found getting a diffuser and adding calming essential oils really helps to calm me down.

I used to exercise to try and tire myself out in conjunction with eliminating caffeine + listened to calming music (for a while I could only manage to sleep while listening to hozier lol) I really hope your struggling eases soon 💛

Tbh I started smoking a small amount of a very specific strain of weed before I took my sleep meds and then just watched a YouTube video to de-stress and boom asleep in literal minutes. If you're over 21 the strand is Granddaddy Purple and it's very smooth and nice!

I listen to audiobooks and rest my eyes - it gives me a way to do something but also still get some rest without looking at a screen
