In relation to my ptsd and stuff. I find it so hard to say I love you and I hate it. I don’t just mean in a romantic relationship way, I actually don’t struggle to tell my current partner I love them. But when friends and otherwise say I love you to me I cannot say it back. I’ll do little hand gestures like hearts but saying I love you is so difficult for me. It was taboo when I was a kid, along with most affection. My dad claimed it was borderline incestuous of my mom to want to kiss us or hug us. Making connections is hard because of this and I hate it so much.

i grew up with giving kisses goodbye to my family when i’d leave but it’s still hard for me to say i love you to my friends as well, even if i do love them and have been friends with them for forever. i can forever tell my partner that i love them, but when it comes to friends i struggle as well. i normally try to here and there if i do feel the want to tell them i love them, i try to tell them even if it’s text or in the moment. i too struggle so anything i can do

It's the other way around for me. I have no trouble saying love you to friends, but for whatever reason, it's so hard for me to say it to family. Why is this?!?

I can relate but for different reasons, and I've found that even without saying I love you, people know when love is there. if you feel comfortable enough telling your friends how that's a struggle for you, it may help for you to be reassured that they know you love them.

There are a lot of people who have trouble saying l love you. That doesn’t make you a bad person. Love can be shown in hundreds of different ways besides saying l love you to them. They know you love them. Your actions speak bigger words than verbally telling them
