Hi! Sometimes I try to trick myself, like if I need to go outside for a walk I tell myself “just walk outside and stand there for two minutes” but then of course the moment I step outside I’m like wow this is actually nice and not that hard, I want to walk!! I know going for a walk is kind of a simple example, but it’s worked for me a bit. I suck at brushing my teeth at night cus 2 minutes feels really long when I’m tired. Instead I have started telling myself just go over all of your teeth once with the toothbrush, but once I start I end up brushing the full 2 minutes. Try to make it easy for yourself. Lay out your active clothes and sneakers before bed. De-clutter your desk, and make a checklist, and write it down and check it!! Literally I have a checklist and the first thing is “get out of bed” and it feels nice to check a lot of things off my list, because why shouldn’t the little accomplishments be celebrated? Also I love the Finch app, cute little baby bird that you help grow by writing down your goals. You get rewarded for just writing down the goals, and another reward for completing them. I’m sorry I think this response is too long so I’ll stop now but if you’d like to chat hit my line :) ❤️

Thank you so much for your extensive response, I really do appreciate it. While I already do some of these things myself, it is very helpful. Often when I ask other people for advice, they give me stuff that really doesn’t work for ADHD people. I just download this app, What does hit my line mean?

But thanks for mentioning the initiate thing I found that very interesting and that someone with adhd might find that to be a challenge

Oh yes, initiating tasks is part of executive functioning. It’s common that people with anxiety and depression will also experience these, but it’s also very common with people with ADHD and autistic people. I definitely feel like mindset helps. I’ve made a lot of progress in therapy with my mindset, it has helped. But this tends to be my biggest issue by far.

I have been taking birdseed with me for when I go outside. That way I can be outside and get some sun but also watch all the birds and other animals.
