I’m positive I have ADHD. I’m willing to bet my life on it. Multiple people around me think I do too. I’m having trouble getting help, however. My mom doesn’t really believe I have it do to my older brother having it and being fuckin WILD (but we both think he had some OCD and autism working against him too) whereas I’m a lot more mellow in comparison. I’m a lot more well behaved, and for some reason that seems to convince her I’m just lazy and depressed smh. Where can I find help or validation or both?

There's 2 types of adhd, the most common studied was in young boys who are hyperactive physically and all over the place, but you can also have a hyperactive mind. I was recently dx with adhd and mine was never the outward hyperness everyone assumes adhd is. If you wanna chat I'm here.

@Snowdrift exactly! My mind never ever stops. I share so many symptoms and experiences with others with ADHD. I CAN be outwardly hyper, I’ve been told too calm down cause I’m being too much sometimes, but its not like I have no awareness.

@skeptic_ Keep advocating for yourself. I had suspected I had adhd for years but never pushed for help bc others said I definitely didn't have it. Finally, this year, I pushed, and now I am medicated and life is easier. Not perfect, but easier.

That’s definitely a big struggle. Maybe sharing some resources with your mom explaining the different types of ADHD could help her understand? She probably still understands ADHD as HI type how it used to be defined. There are a number of ADHD help apps out there, as well as the How To ADHD YouTube channel that could help you without any official treatment

@Ender318 thank you very much I’ll try that out!
