Struggling to Find a Job After Graduation

I’m graduating with my bachelors in December after what will be 5 1/2 years, but I keep getting rejection letters from jobs because I don’t yet have a degree. I don’t really have a place to go between graduating and beginning a job. I really don’t want to work remotely because I really struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts. I need to be around people to keep me going, but having a dead end job like working in customer service makes my depression and self esteem terrible as well. I have no idea how to apply to jobs and have one lined up so I can begin working after I graduate. I also need one that is changing so I can pay attention to it.

Isn't there a career councelor you can talk to? If not, is there a welfare/foodstamps/SSI office you can go to? The one in my area offers job hunting and training services to connect you to jobs better than you could by yourself. Good luck, and don't despair if you get a crap job, it's just more resume fodder!

I don't know what exactly you're majoring in but I know some companies have spring internships targeted either for students who are taking a semester off or for recent grads. Also, don't worry about the rejections. I'm also applying for a job/internship for the first time, and I'm getting loads of rejections. My recommendation would be to submit A LOT of applications. Statistically speaking, you would hear back from a higher number of employers if you pump out a large number of applications. Best of luck to you on your job hunt!!

Something that’s really helped me is seasonal jobs. Every season it’s drastically different, and if you want, you can change locations between seasons. Check out a website called coolworks. Stuff like that also usually offers employee housing or you can get in touch with other employees and get housing with them.
