Struggling to Accept Help: Any Advice?

Advice for accepting help? On the outside, I am accepting help because I physically need to. I'm having greater problems mentally accepting help. I feel myself breaking down with sadness and guilt everytime someone helps me.

I used to struggle with this too. For me it stemmed from being told when I was younger that others had it worse than me. I took that mentality with me as I grew and ended up invalidating my own thoughts, emotions, and overall experiences. I think what might help is figuring out why you feel sad and guilty about getting help and deconstructing those thoughts. I kept telling myself what I was experiencing was valid and no one could tell me it wasn’t, I shouldn’t compare my experiences with someone else’s, and that it’s ok to be vulnerable. Once I did this I stopped suppressing my emotions and could be honest with my psychologist and truly get the help I needed. Hope this helps you.
