Stretching with EDS: Help or Harm?

hey so i was just diagnosed with eds not too long ago and told not to stretch a lot. this was conflicting to me because i do a very pressing sport (jujitsu) and need to stretch a lot. this condition has caused me lots of pain but exercise seems to help. will stretching worsen it?

Stretching is bad when you over extend which is very easy to do with EDS. If you stay in range of motion and don’t extend out of it like you’re capable of then it’s not as bad. Foam rolling and massages can be helpful to keep you from tensing up too much and get rid of knots

Stretching could definitely worsen symptoms, but if not stretching does more harm than good then maybe keep it to a minimum. If you do that, make sure to massage and rub out the areas that you use the most to prevent lactic build up (causes soreness).
