Sensory overload, like if someone is talking to me and the radio is playing or the tv is on, to many different noises, highly emotional, brain fog

I started to feel like I had anger issues a few years ago bc I was experiencing this. When I realized it was an ADHD symptom I’ve learned tips to manage it better. I take frequent “mom breaks” 😂 and lock myself in the bathroom and I’ll listen to some calming music, pray, whatever it takes to stop the sensory overload. I also take anxiety meds which help tremendously, but loud noises like yelling, TV or music flip a switch inside my brain so fast. I can go from fine to overstimulated in a second, and it’s frustrating bc it keeps me from getting things done that I need to. But I’m working on realizing my triggers and getting better.

Emotional flooding. I sometimes get these episodes where a negative emotion seems to fill my entire body and for a few minutes, the emotional pain is the only thing that exists. It can be a little frightening at times. In those moments, I often will text or call an understanding friend. I always pray, and that helps A LOT.

I have sensory issues sometimes. Physical sensations will become very overwhelming to me suddenly. I’m also very sensitive to if I’m hungry, thirsty, or tired. Like I can’t imagine going on with what I’m doing before fixing whichever of those. Not sure what degree of atypical these are.

Sensory issues for sure. Those aren't actually non typical because they occur in a lot of related disorders but most people don't generally associate them with ADHD.

super bad sensory issues! they're not as debilitating as they used to be, but i am an extremely picky eater and have to drink v8 and stuff to not be vitamin deficient. and i get sensory overload so bad it gives me panic attacks.

I'm not sure if this is a adhd thing, but I have a hard time hearing what people say. It's like my brain'll tune out halfway through their sentence 😂

Same!! It’s difficult to keep a serious convo going, my mind just ventures off to the most random thoughts. 🤦‍♀️ I finally started being very open ab what I struggle with so my ppl know that I’m not trying to be inconsiderate. It’s also annoying bc I’ll miss important info that I actually want to hear.

it is! And me too! I’ve started to just be honest and ask them to repeat what they said
