How to Stop Obsessing Over Someone?

I am having trouble with a close friend who is almost like an unofficial ex and I don't think I want to let them go but I also think that I'm obsessing over them a bit much and I wish I could stop

Wish I knew how to help! I'm currently dealing with this too. It's so tough. I have so many other things I need and want to focus on, but it's like I can't take off the blinders that only let me see him. The favorite person thing is wild to me.

Like a love interest, a celebrity, or just a comfort person? Or all the above?

I also have the issue of having a favourite peerson, what helped me is investing more time in other people/my favouite hobbies and special interests, its going to take some time but it does help to have other things/other people to look forward to in your day!
