Starting Lyrica for Fibromyalgia Pain: Any Advice?

After speaking to my doctor he's going to prescribe me Lyrica to try for my fibromyalgia pain. the muscle relaxers I have been taking until now have not been working very well at all. I got advice from people on this app that have said that this medication as well as Cymbalta have been game changers for their pain. Is there anything I should be looking out for in the beginning stages?

Be careful of withdrawal!!! I have a love hate relationship with my lyrica, because it relieves a LOT of pain... but if I miss a dose, or God forbid the pharmacy messes up & doesn't refill it on time, the withdrawal symptoms I experience are absolutely brutal.

i haven’t had that experience with Lyrica. My neurologist has me go between 600 and 400 mgs a day. And I have never had any issues jumping between the two different dosages. I know everyone experiences meds differently tho. I have never missed all 400mgs tho. I do lnow that like all meds, it is good when u want to quit to taper off slowly to reduce nasty side effects. I heard anti-depressants can b the worst - I also take for pain, Cybalta.

Lyrica and Cymbalta together REALLY helped my MS nerve pain!! My neurologist also added compounded Naltrexone and that finally helped me be able to walk short distances again. I have no side effects that I notice other than weight gain. I’ll take that over severe burning pain 24/7 any day!!

Please lookup the side effects. In my opinion Cymbalta has less serious side effects.

Have you tried compounded Naltrexone? My neurologist has me on it for nerve pain from MS and it was a game changer for me when Lyrica and Cymbalta still were not enough to kill my intense pain.

I take both as well as pain meds and muscle relaxers but sometimes nothing helps! I don’t think I have any side effects from the cymbalta and lyrica combination alone!

I would just be careful with Cymbalta, I don’t know if you are taking any other medications but combined with mine it gave me horrible stomach cramps so just keep tabs on it.
