How am I supposed to stand up to controlling/ manipulative parents? I find it hard to even identify that I'm being mistreated so when I try to give them a reason why I'm unhappy, I can't think of why.

If you don't live with them anymore then id greatly distance from them. Only communicate when necessary. But if you still live with them then still not communicate with them as much. Try to find a reason not to be home. Example: hangout with friends, get a job, volunteer. It's not good to be in a toxic household. You should only stand up to them when you don't rely on them for anything anymore. Let me know if this helps!

One of the suggestions provided is to set boundaries. If they aren't respected, it's recommended to remove yourself from the situation. Going somewhere else like your room or outside can help avoid further abuse. It's also suggested to seek help from a therapist who can assist in setting these boundaries as it can be challenging. Another recommendation is to have a serious conversation with them about your feelings and ask them to hear you out.
