Nervous System Going Haywire After Spinal Shunt Placement

Not really sure where to start. So, Hi! I was in a car accident end of 2004 that created a syrinx in my spine from C6-T2. I had a Chiari decompression summer of 2005 because the syrinx was growing in diameter. The surgery stabilized it, and the syrinx became back burner to other health concerns. Over the years symptoms progressed and this past March I had my first spinal shunt placed and my nervous system is completely on the fritz now, but the Surgeon told me that it's normal for the first year post op. I wondered if anyone else experienced their nervous system going haywire after having a shunt placed?
