pokémon has been my brother's main special interest for 25 years haha. I think its appeal to so many autistic people must somehow be linked to the fact that pokémon's creator's inspiration for the game was his autistic obsession with bugs. I guess it's because pokémon is very category and statistic oriented, which many people including myself can relate most of our autistic obsessions to. Also some autistic people's obsessions mostly revolve around fictional characters and there's a lot of nice little guys in those games.

currently my biggest special interests are mental illnesses & autism and medications/nootropics/supplements. But special interests from the past still linger - been on-and-off obsessed with tornadoes since I was two years old, for example. And rollercoasters + zombie movies on-and-off since I was about 7. Also I studied maps of my local area very extensively in high school, and despite being way less interested in them now, I still find myself spending hours looking at shopping centers in the most rural areas, the incorporation status of a town, etc. I've always talked too much about whatever my special interest is at the time - even as a kid I can remember knowing that the person I was talking to probably thought it was weird that I only talked about paper airplanes or retro video games.. but it was like a motor was driving me to keep going. I still get the motor thing often (hence this post) but as expected my self control has greatly improved over the years, even since graduating high school.

I personally enjoy collecting Bop It games, those games from the 90s. They are still making them, and I have one of the most interesting Bop It collections on YouTube. I know the Inventor of Bop It personally, and he said himself that I know more about Bop It than he does. You could call me a superfan if you so desire. It's really stimulating playing Bop It though. Especially if you are autistic or even blind because although one may not be able to see the gadgets on the game unit, a blind person can hear it as an audible cue and sensually touch and feel the game. I feel like Bop It is a great way to connect both autistic people and blond people together in a way.

I've been super into baking recently, and I just made my first successful loaf of bread. I want to start making sourdough though the process takes a while. It takes 10 days to make the starter, and the process for even making bread with it is a lot different than the usual yeast-based bread I've only just recently started to make. Though I am still going to be trying soon because I want to be able to make things for the neighborhood, and baking in all forms helps so much with my depression and anxiety. I would show you pictures of the breads I've made if I could, but just know they look absolutely wonderful! I am so proud of them and I'm gonna keep trying different desserts (which I've been doing mostly without a recipe at hand, and it's been super fun to learn that way!)

— i love making lists, whiteboards, cleaning tiktoks, even hoarding situation cleanups, dangerous/abnormal cleanup environments with the proper gear—anything that ranges from organization to making an engironment safe and sterile and eye-candy pleasing are one of my *biggest* hyperfixations. following in second place are squishmallows… i impulse spend if i’m not too careful and i find them in a walmart! christmas ones started popping up and i may have bought one… just one, not two luckily. i also love bullet journaling to a rather obsessive point of making sure i update how i do my notes format every few years—i also run my own commission service and i *have* to update my website yearly with a new theme or else it feels outdated! its a completely huge obsession. routines are some of my “don’t tread on” habits and hyperfixations—as i will not take too kindly unfortunately to someone intercepting on it. 😵‍💫 some more lighthearted hyperfixations: this week is definitely cookie kingdom and stardew valley.
