You might find this article interesting, I first read it several months ago. It is common for the onset of Social Anxiety to be precipitated by a negative life event, particularly a social trauma. For me, it started that way as well. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0887618520300426#:~:text=Most%20individuals%20experienced%20social%20trauma,condition%20rather%20than%20two%20disorders.

Yes, I was bullied for years at school and my parents didn't seem to care, so I felt like an outsider and unsafe

☹️ I'm really sorry that happened, and I'm sorry your parents weren't supportive.

I have social anxiety but I don’t think it’s trauma related because I’ve never had any negative social experiences, at least not that I can remember, I’ve just always been like that and it’s gotten progressively worse the older I get

My life is full of traumas, but I don’t think I can attribute my social anxiety/agoraphobia to any one instance. I think neurodivergence caused me to never feel remotely “normal” or comfortable in social situations, so I have always been avoidant & anxious of having to be around other people, since masking is so exhausting.
