I'm new to sciatica. I've been reading. Dont sleep on your stomach. Other than that, tirednewt's comment about the body pillow is the most popular answer with sleeping on the side opposite of the pain. Flat on your back is also good, but only if you have a more firm mattress. (I do not).

i know this is an old post, but for anyone who may be reading: i sleep best flat on my back with one leg bent at the knee. depending on the day, sometimes having the leg bent on the painful side is best, sometimes the opposite leg is better. but it really opens up the hips in a way that relieves some of the pain for me.
