How to Stop Rushing Thoughts and Sleep Better?

I suffer from sleep problems and rushing thoughts. Recently, the thoughts have been so bothersome that I wake up in the middle of the night with them. Also, it takes me awhile to even realize that I’m having those thoughts. It takes so much time from my sleep and I don’t know how to stop them. I tried meditation, but I simply can’t focus. Everyday I worry that my health gets worse because I’m tired and stressed. Any tips?

Thank you! Yes, I’ve tried melatonin but it wasn’t too effective. I’ll definitely try to journal right before I sleep bc usually I do it during the day :) hopefully that’ll help

Ooh, I know exactly where you’re coming from. Can you take any meds or melatonin to help you fall asleep? Maybe ask your doctor/psychiatrists about it. For meditation, I find that following along to an audio-guided meditation is a lot more effective than just trying to do it myself, since the voice helps me focus on the meditation and not on my thoughts. The Calm app is my go-to for these! Other than that, I’ve found that journaling before bed really helps with racing thoughts, since it helps me get everything down and out of my brain. If I’m worried about things I need to do tomorrow, I’ll usually make a to-do list or plan so I know what I need to do and don’t have to think about it. If nothing else works, I’ll usually just put on a long YouTube video or podcast and fall asleep to that. Sometimes you just need something distracting to help your mind zone out :)
