Experiencing Sleep Attacks: Anyone Else?

Have you ever been awake and asleep? It’s hard to explain but often when I have a sleep attack I still somewhat know what’s going on around me. For example, I had to analyze a candidate in a political debate in class. When the other candidate was talking, I was asleep and dreaming about my friend doing laundry, but I somehow knew to pick my head up when my candidate starting talking. Can anyone else relate?

Absolutely!! Have you ever been taking notes and you’re nodding but still writing down notes? I have and sometimes they are normal but sloppy and other times they are completely illegible but it’s kinda funny when it happens

Oh yeah, I’ll start dreaming and then write my notes about my dream

100%, it’s one of the facets of my narcolepsy that’s hardest to explain to ppl but i’ve been experiencing it since i was a kid. it even happened to me during my college graduation lol. like i remember feeling aware of everything but later i looked back and i know i had to have been asleep.

Oh for sure!! I didn’t even realize it until my sleep study haha. They told me I was asleep for all of the naps, but I was fully aware during one of them.
