We’re having a lil sleepless night tonight 🤪 idk if anyone else does this but I’m s o tired and I want to sleep but for unknown reasons everytime I’m about to sleep I get a HUGE wave of anxiety and it only stops if I do something else like going on my phone. Does this happen to anyone else? I’m not even feeling stressed about anything in particular it’s just random. And if it does happen to you, what do you do to help?

Yes I’ve dealt with this many times before .. I built up a fear of sleep at one point because of it. A couple things that helped me is sleep hypnosis videos, cold ice pack on your chest (calms your vague nerve), face mask, weighted blanket & lavender essential oils..

I’m really loving the muscle relaxation technique because it’s super quick in response to a wave of anxiety. You tense up a specific muscle and be mindful of the feeling and then release the tension! If it’s a huuuge wave then I’ll tense up so tight until I actually start shaking (which is a trauma release exercise in itself).

Sometimes when I struggle to sleep due to restlessness, anxiety, ect.. I'll play a podcast on my phone (low volume of course) or listen to some ASMR/rain drop sounds while I close my eyes & allow myself to relax. More easily due to the comfort those things happen to bring me.
