Struggling with Skin Picking Habits

anyone else deal woth skin picking? esp around their fingers/cuticle and even on their toes? (I've actually removed toe nails before from this) how do you stop yourself?? I don't even realize I'm doing it a lot of the time until I catch myself.

I pick at my toes and hands the cuticle and bite my nails and skin around it I have done it my whole life if I get my nails done it helps but it gets expensive doing my nails all the time so u don't do them if I paint them it don't stop me. I also bite my lip of inside of my checks alot. I don't know why I do those things but I do I wish I could stop

This seems to be a common way to deal with anxiety. My one friend has stopped by painting her nails, but that was more so her picking her actual nails. If I catch myself doing it, I try to focus on distracting my hands.

Thankfully not this. I do tend to bite lip, check, tongue, or under my tongue… but if I did have the outward with hands and feet i would train my dog to notice it for me and stop it! (If you have a dog) I hear alot I’d people do that.

This is what my nail biting became when I “broke” the habit. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I have a small, oval-shaped piece of labradorite that’s smooth to the touch and keep it in my pocket to fidget with, also bought a couple of spinner rings and put them on my thumb where I tend to start picking first. Staying on top of moisturizing and trimming off hangnails as they pop up also helps- if there isn’t something hanging off my skin, I’m more likely to leave it alone.

Same. I recently bought myself fidget rings. That helps a lot. Also getting my nails done like gel or acrylic helps too.

I do this too. I catch myself tearing my cuticles apart but it's like a relief to my anxiety. I want to stop but can't seem to figure out how.
