due to my boyfriend's kids being sick I am now sick and at urgent care im really upset not only because I'm so sick but tomorrow I'm suposse to start my new job and I'm going to have to call in !!!! I'm so scared there just going to fire me and I will be absolutely screwed!!! 😥😥 I'm going to provide them with a Dr note but I'm having anxiety over being sick and losing a job I haven't even started yet ! my boyfriend made a comment to me before I left " your going to miss your first day of work ?" like I'm sick ... sneezing, coughing , throat hurts, head is pounding , fever ...what else am i suppose to do expose other people ? and that just made me feel really bad about myself like I'm lazy ...😔

I saw in the comments that you did call in and that he was understanding but also annoyed. Try to remember that you are not at fault. When he says the doctor's note does not excuse the absence, I think he just means that it isn't like school where they might not mark the absence. He was more frustrated at the fact that so many other people called in than you specifically. Above all, your health and the health of others is more important than you being there on your first day. And if your boss gives you a hard time for it, make that clear (and maybe consider looking into other employers...an employer who tries to get you to work when you're sick and contagious is a bad one to have).

Please be easy on yourself. I’m going through a very similar thing. Sounds like you have the flu. That’s not your fault. I’m a live in caregiver and my boss gave me the flu. She bounced back within a day and I’ve been terribly sick for a few days now, but haven’t really had time off until yesterday, and that was hard to get. I broke down big time yesterday with a full blown panic attack in front of people. It was awful. The only thing you can do is take care of yourself until you’re better, but please be easy on yourself because your boyfriend shouldn’t have said that. I hope you feel better soon. I’m sorry.
