Sharp pain in the back of my thighs - what could it be?

I have what seems like water retention and swelling on the backs of my thighs behind my knees and it causes me a lot of sharp pain whenever i move my legs but especially when there's any kind of pressure on it like squatting or touching. Does anyone else have this experience? If so what is it? My doctor has no idea what it is. we tested me for blood clots and that's not what it is but I'm concerned that it's possibly a gland issue?
