Feeling hesitant to share my symptoms without a diagnosis

Does anyone else feel like they can't put their conditions in this app unless they have been diagnosed..? Like, I know there's an option for "not yet diagnosed" but I have no idea when I started feeling any of these things, and even so, I personally dont feel like I have the right to say I have a condition when I haven't been officially diagnosed. Is it just me? Or does anyone else feel the same way.

i just put when my therapist and i started talking abt the high likelihood of me having them (histrionic and autism) when they ask for the date on not yet diagnosed, since i haven’t formally been tested (she isn’t qualified to test me, but gave me resources that i haven’t yet reached out to bc im busy and anxiety.) if it turns out i don’t have them, i would obviously delete them, but for now i do identify with them bc the symptoms hella match up with my struggles in day to day life🥰

I think I have restless legs syndrome and Hyperhidrosis, but I haven't reached out to my doctor due to insurance changes. So I don't know what to do since I've been struggling with them since I was a child, but I don't have any idea of how old I was when I first noticed either of them

I feel that. Recently I saw someone say they hope everyone is diagnosed on this app because otherwise it can be considered fake, the inability to block them has also made me feel very unsafe so I hope they don't come up in my feed again

That's just mean spirited and no one should be saying that in an app like this, where people are just trying to share their experiences. I'm sorry you saw that post, but your experiences are valid. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise 💜

I’ve had a doctor diagnose me with something and another doctor undiagnose me with the same thing 🤷🏼‍♀️ I personally don’t think the diagnosis itself is the most important thing. We are all just doing our best. You know your experience better than anyone else 💜

Thank you, that really helps 💜. I'll see about figuring out how to put my undiagnosed disorders in here and try not to worry too much about it 😅

I think diagnoses are great if you can get them, but the truth of the matter is that not everyone with something can or will get diagnosed with it. there's lots of factors that make this happen, and we can't be too hard on ourselves or others who are unable to be diagnosed formally

That's true, Thank you for your comment. I think I'll put the disorders in my profile now, I'm just trying to figure out when they started. Your words mean a lot 💜

Thank you, I do know of that option, I more meant figuring out what to put as the starting year. I appreciate the help nonetheless! 💜

honestly, I think it's mostly about research. if you research things well enough you can identify with a label until you either get corrected by a professional or find something that fits better. I think ESPECIALLY on an app like this, the label stands mostly to say "hey, I have these symptoms like you do!" so formal diagnosis is even LESS important.

I put in conditions that I don’t have officially diagnosed. I appreciate that we can do this in this app. I want to recognize that the diagnosis is a privilege and can be very useful and can also not be useful. I think the goal here is to talk with people who have similar experiences (you are Alike!) and in this case an incorrect self-diagnosis is very low stakes. Perhaps not meeting all the criteria for a diagnosis does not mean you are not having shared experiences and this app allows for that spectrum to exist.
