Need Help with Severe Constipation

has anyone else had experience with severe constipation and if so what did you do that helped? I’m still in the process of another diagnosis on top of fibro so I’m not sure what it’s related to but i’m big time struggling. Looking like im 6 months pregnant bc of the bloating

I have gastroparesis and can have bad constipation.. other than having my gallbladder removed, what helped me go more was motegrity and stool softeners (i was doing motegrity once per day and 2 stool softeners every other day when really bad)

i struggle with it as well but don’t know if it’s because of my fibro or ibs which i’m prone to bc of my eds. i’ve increased my water intake and have started taking a probiotic twice a day and that’s been helping a little bit. i still have a lot of bloating and discomfort but i think i just need to keep up with it

You are taking fiber already. Try the BRAT diet. That's bananas, white rice, apples/applesauce and toast. Yogurt helps me to go!☺️

I don’t know if it’s related to my fibro, but I used to suffer from severe constipation and diarrhea on and off. I try to adjust to a healthy lifestyle that helps me maintain good bowel movement- drink a lot of water, eat more fiber and probiotic yogurt. Maybe you should give it a try.

After some medication adjustments I was struggling. I take a stool softener with my morning pills.

Yes, but I think my PCOS has something to do with that rather than my fibro. What really helped was eating fiber and green vegetables, and drinking a lot of water

I’ve used stool softeners and changed my diet to include more whole grained and fruit. I heard that sometimes using an oral stool softener won’t work and you need a suppository version to actually clear it all out.

I have experienced this in some ways. It ended up being IBS for me. I have IBS-M which is both constipation and dirrhea. IBS-C (constipation) is actually pretty common. Then again, it could be host of other things depending on your lifestyle. @Lady_RJM points out a lot to consider as well.

I really haven't figured out the constipation battle yet myself, and the bloating is crazy. Have you tried taking fiber supplements or a stool softener? Maybe increase your water intake.
