Anyone else have severe panic/anxiety attacks to supposedly "minor" things? I have a possible time jam and may be late to my GF's play, which caused me to spiral so much I was no longer even thinking about my actions. Like, I cancelled a psychiatrist appointment for that day which wouldn't have even caused any interference because my brain broke. Then my stepmother said my panic attack was making her anxious, so I went to bed and cried, and now I'm here. any advice?

I have panic attacks like this too. It’s miserable, but I have really close friends that usually help talk me down and/or help me work through my problem rationally. I don’t recommend straight up dumping on people, cause that’s a bit much, but if you have anyone close enough that experiences similar things, talk to them about it! Sometimes all it takes is a calm head to help clear up your own. (In my experience at least, lol)

It might have to do with your autism and the way yoir brain prioritizes things. Thats why I go through most of my day stoned

@TarMan wish that were an option, but my dad works a government job, so weed is a no-go in my house

I'm having issues with this too. Sounds like you're getting anxious by thinking of all the possible outcomes? Like, if I'm late _ will happen. I also have PTSD and I know in my experience being late means not being in control , and possibly getting people mad at me, which is a big trigger. Not sure if that relates to you, but that what comes to mind. I suggest doing quick breathing exercises in the moment, to lower heart rate. I just learned 'belly breathing' which was a game changer and really lowers my heart rate! Hope things work out!
@fawnly the not being in control thing is definitely the big deal. I'm all for meditation — I do it twice a day — but in the moment, breathing exercises just make me worse. Lowering my heart rate and breath rate isn't a solution for me, unfortunately. :/
@sapphicsucculents ah i see. I understand, sometimes it doesn't work for me either. I don't have too much other -healthy- advice because my coping mechanisms are kinda unhealthy 😅 kinda in the same boat rn
@valentine.png My whole family's got PTSD (we're found, not blood) and honestly? I wish I could find someone to talk to, but any time I do I just feel like a burden if they're healthy, and a trigger if they're not. I'm glad your friends help you though!! That's super cool.
@sapphicsucculents i understand that burden feeling D: it’s definitely a stuck between a rock and a hard spot thing. i guess try to think about if you’d help your family if they came to you, yknow? or have a talk about how you can all help each other get grounded, what to avoid and what to help with etc. i hope it gets better for you!! ^_^
