when I was a kid I used to wear regular sunglasses everywhere for a whole month and a half untill my family started to get upset with me so I stoped. But I didn't even knew what asd was untill 7th grade bc my mom waited till I asked after seeing the movie Miracle Run and at the beginning they where talking about asd so that is when mom told me about it. Then I started researching asd and ADHD and about 4 days ago my mom told me when I when to get evaluated at children's Mercy that I do have ADHD. Actually this is a bit of a long story do you want me to text you instead?

And if it's really bad I'll trun off all the mane lights but keep on the TV and some lead lights and just try to relax

I get myself into a cool, quiet, dark environment and just sit there. In your case a nightlight or other dim light might help, so it’s not overstimulating but still lights up the room. Also wearing super comfy clothes helps me, tight or itchy clothing while I’m overstimulated makes it all way worse

Sensory overload :( Maybe indirect light would be okay? Like having the door open with the light on outside, that way you don’t have all the exposure but it’s less scary? I have all of my cozy clothes together in one spot near my bed, so if I’m having a bad time I go to bed. I put on textures that feel good, get under my weighted blanket, and I can scoot under the blanket because it’s an open weave- I don’t feel smothered bc I can breathe and see.

thank you so much I didn't even think about that ☺️

Also reminder to run yourself through your checklist of basic needs- are you hydrated? Can you tolerate a small snack if it’s been a while since you’ve eaten? Do you need to rest? Autism can also involve poor interoception- we’re not especially good at being able to “feel” our bodily needs.

You could be overestimated, that stuff with the lights and sounds tends to happen
