Sensory Overload at Restaurants: Is it Normal?

Does anybody else go to restaurants and get so overstimulated that they want to crawl under the table and make everything go silent and kinda disappear? For me I think its the lights buzzing, the music in the background, and the sound of the silverware clinking. But this never really happened to me before? I'm usually, at least I think so, not this sensitive to sounds too often. So is it normal to be super sensitive some days and other days not? Also, does this happen to others?

If I have to go in I will plan ahead. I have looked at the menu online before going so I know. Sometimes, I will have it written down before because I overall struggle with verbal communication and it just gets worse if I am overstimulated.

I struggle with verbal communication too. I'll definitely try those.

Absolutely normal to be effected some days and not others. It's all about what other stimuli you've had that day, and how much you can handle. I would suggest earplugs, the type that cut that noise, but still allow you to hear the people you're with. Mine have helped me immensely

I do, for me it's all the people talking and my brain wants to listen to what everyone is saying and I can't stop it
