Although painting and other less damaging skills are good to have, it’s still coming from a place of hurt. I think you should see someone like a therapist if you can. Or tell someone you trust when you think seriously about harming yourself and call or text them to distract yourself from the thoughts. Also, @twofarts thoughts are fantastic as well.

I used to have ice cubes ready so i could hold them in my hands. They were painful but not damaging

Maybe finding something hard to destroy and take it all out on it can’t think of anything at the moment but will comment when I do. The frozen orange idea is great btw.

i’m glad and proud of you for taking the effort to improve. usually dunking my face in cold water with ice helps because it puts you in shock and calms you down afterwards but sometimes that’s too much effort, distractions distractions distractions— movies/shows and hobbies, get something yourself away from feeling the destructive urge. maybe even take a walk and sit somewhere to take in nature

I can relate to the struggle! Something that helps me is painting lines where I want to sh with red paint (I struggle with cutting). It actually helps a lot!

I'm sorry to hear you're going thru this. Mental health is well it's just awful!! Um I'm not real good myself at following the coping mechanims but deep breathing and going to my happy place seems to help. 😊
