I think it's valid. I'm self diagnosed because I'm a career woman with a bachelor's degree, doctors don't take me seriously. I'm trying to get professional diagnosis but I don't know if I ever will. My aunt's (daycare worker and teacher) recommended I get tested at 4 but my parents never did so...

Not in a medical sense no, but it can help you find support for symptoms and feelings that you have. You’ll need a professional diagnosis to see professional treatment though, which is never a bad thing.

yes, absolutely yes. Doctors aren't interested in helping us, they're interested in making us go away. I don't like spreading medical distrust but when it comes to autism doctors and scientists can be genuinely dangerous and abusive and that is the reason I am 100% pro self diagnosing

i believe it's 100% valid. of course, a lot of research has to be done, but a lot of people do not have access to receive a diagnosis, such as myself, more many different reasons. a medical diagnosis would be great but no one knows you better than yourself, in my opinion

I think if you’ve done thorough research and you’ve experienced symptoms for a long time that self diagnosis is okay. I would still encourage people to get a professional diagnosis if it’s available to them though.
