Seeking Help for Disability at a Young Age

Any idea on how to get started on disability? I'm only 19 so I feel like I definitely have a disadvantage seeking the help I need, but I'm unable to work even the few hours my boss gave me without becoming exhausted or sleeping the entire next day. it's extremely frustrating.

You will be ineligible for SSDI (full disability) but possibly SSI (low/no income assistance for the disabled.) In order to receive full disability you not only have to fight the system and basically prove your conditions make it impossible for gainful employment, but you also need work credits. Meaning you have to have worked a cumulative of 5 out of the last 10 years to even be eligible. SSI is significantly less and you won’t receive Medicare, but is generally easier to get. You can also apply for food stamps and Medicaid if no one claims you as a dependent. Before you even get started on an application, here’s a little info on the program. Hope it helps. https://www.ssa.gov/ssi
