Mine are all things that people watched/played as kids and probably never revisited. I really like Ed, Edd n' Eddy, Skylanders, and Fossil Fighters but I have yet to find anybody else with a special interest in them

I don't think it's anywhere near active right now, but when I was younger my special interest was espionage, so for a series of years I read books about spying, did research on spies in history and similar things, taught myself some basic survival skills, started or joined spy clubs, and even devised some pretty elaborate spy training routines on a budget. My specialty was ciphers, and to this day I can learn alternate alphabets woth relative ease. Not common, as far as I know, but definitely something that has served me well! I'm good at telling when I'm being followed, and have a lot of other strange related skills.

I’m an actor and I know so few people who have done the same amount of research I have into all the different acting technique/methods and the pedagogy and history of it all. Also whenever I play a character or am working on monologues etc I do deep dives into the world of the play, the history etc, and I’ve got a special interest anyway in classical theater and Shakespeare, but rn I’m working on a monologue from Troilus and Cressida, and the play is SO fascinating, which I just did not understand the first time I read it years ago. The history of its performance over the last century, in which it has actually been ABLE to be performed as it was considered too vulgar for performance prior to the 20th century, is SO varied and… bizarre? So anyway I’ve been trying to do a lot of detective work so I can make sense of the play and therefore do this monologue justice for some big auditions I’ve got coming up Speaking of detective work, another special interest of mine is the Nancy Drew PC games from HerInteractive if anyone knows about those. I have a dinosaur computer I keep around just so I can play all the old games and I’ve literally been learning useless facts from those games my whole life

Hmm. I don’t think being interested in cookbooks is unusual, but collecting hundreds, organized by region and nation, and then creating your own searchable database of recipes you have made or want to make probably is 😅 I also got really into fermentation recently—sourdough is pretty common these days, but now I make kimchi and pickles and my own vinegar, and I want to try making alcohol, but don’t currently have supplies for that. I’ve cycled through a lot of food/cooking related topics over the years. Holocaust and Jewish history.
