Scared to Take Antidepressants

Anonymous20 thats what makes me so scared of starting any. What did your doctor say about it? Have you felt like that before ever or did it only ever happen because of the pills?

I started taking meds and one of them made me feel like I was going through the worst suicidal ideation I've ever felt with no external trigger. It would wake me from sleeping at 3am and I would ball my eyes out holding my husband. I think it was wellbutrin that was causing the opposite effect on me. I just took my last dose after weening not long ago and the symptoms have subsided to a moderate but, I started smoking again because of the side effect.

Every medicine has some side effects. Some are rare and some less so. I think that the advantages of taking the drug outweigh the disadvantages of very rare side effects that the chances of you getting them are zero. Look at how many people around us are taking these drugs and no one I know has reported any unusual side effects. Hope this calms you down a bit.
