Is waiting for a year to see a rheumatologist reasonable? I got a referral one and they can’t get me in until about a year out from now for a new patient, but I’m not sure what my other options would even be

Everyone I’ve called gave me a date 6 to 9 months out… you can keep calling to see if they have cancellations too! That’s how I was able to see a neurologist sooner.. at first I was given a date for august of this year but ended up getting a phone call and went in the next week..

Hi try asking your Dr. Office to see if they can get you a sooner appt. Sometimes Dr. can get better appts and asked if they have any cancelations that comes up will they call you You might have to call them every week to check on canceled appts
I wouldn't consider that reasonable. I would start by asking my referring Dr for a different referral. If that fails, I'd Google and find someone else then ask the referring Dr to write a referral for that person.
I would Google rheumatologists in the area, then look at reviews. See if another office, with good reviews, can see you sooner. But make sure it's ok with your referring doctor and your insurance. But I know I wouldn't want to wait that long...
