When I'm extremely depressed I want to clear everything and start over. Like put my phone back to factory reset and delete social media or make new pages. Does anyone else have this problem. What could be the reasoning for doing this?

I feel empty right now for some reason and social media is always what I want to delete. Why is that a trigger I don't understand and the urge be so strong but I stopped myself from deleting accounts and now I'm making multiple accounts to try to make me feel better at the time my upset like today I just made a new Instagram account. I hate it!!

I have deleted my profile about a dozen times now. Usually after major stress events. Haven't reset my phone for that reason, but I have gone through and deleted tons of pictures while in certain moods.

Some people have expressed similar feelings of wanting to delete their social media or start over when they are feeling overwhelmed or depressed. The reasoning behind this could be a desire for a clean slate, to reduce stress, or to disconnect from things that may be contributing to negative feelings. One person mentioned that after deleting certain social media apps from their phone, they felt much better and had more time for other things. Another person suggested starting with a fresh mind on existing socials and keeping close friends, while unfollowing or leaving things that are no longer wanted.
