Relief in ME Diagnosis

just recently diagnosed with ME but suffering symptoms for years, has anyone else felt relief that they are actually diagnosed, and not just "lazy" like so many have assumed for so many years?

Absolutely. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD, at aged 48. Such a relief. Sending hugs

I felt so much relief - finally understanding I wasn’t just tiered, I had legit fatigue from being in pain all the time (fibro and HSD). It can be incredibly validating

yes!! I also always thought all my symptoms were connected and put my CFS symptoms down to fibro, so to have an actual name for it is such a relief finally! PS I love your username, 3 of my fave things 🤣

I knew I had ME very early on (within days of onset, i did A LOT of research 😅), so I knew for sure well ahead of my diagnosis... However, when I got officially diagnosed, the relief, comfort, and the "i told ya so" definitely hit like a truck, lol But, so did self-doubt, unfortunately 😕 which is apparently pretty common after a diagnosis (relief and acceptance, but also "what if it's not correct?" "maybe its actually all in my head, like they said?" whenever symptoms are lesser) It sucks, but then I crash, and I 100% believe myself again 😂🫠

100%! I felt so relieved I cried from relief. 💕 It's easy to fall back into that way of thinking so always remember, the fact you're worried about being lazy is proof you are not!

Yes absolutely! I thought I was lazy for so long and was so hard on myself and then finally everything clicked together into place and made so much more sense. I'm glad your diagnosis has brought some light to your situation, and that you can find whatever help you need ❤️
