Should I be concerned with asking my doctor for regular blood tests outside of the routine?

Nope. Especially if you know you have a condition/conditions that can be reflected/observed by blood work results. I don’t wish for anyone with an illness (or illnesses) to feel uncomfortable keeping an eye on their numbers, especially those being reasonable in what they feel is often enough. Demanding blood work every week is a little silly in my opinion

No, this is such a great idea! One of the issues with american healthcare is that we are solely focused on treatment- not prevention. Getting blood tests can give you so much insight on your health and allow you to catch any abnormalities early. A good doctor will be happy to do these tests.
