Reconsidering My Views on Mental Illnesses

my views on mental illnesses are starting to change. after watching a lot of Gabor mate and other's videos I think a lot of mental illnesses like ADHD and BPD are trauma based. I doubt my view will be received well but maybe. does anyone else think that it's a possibility?

My daughter showed signs of her ADHD and BP as early as 3 yrs old. She hadn't experienced any trauma as of yet at that point in her life. I myself also showed symptoms or signs of BP in my childhood and there is a history of mental illness in my family. I can't personally speak on BPD, but I do agree that mental health disorders can and are triggered by trauma often. I don't necessarily believe that's where they solely originate from. I feel it's a mix of nature vs nurture, or genetics vs trauma. That's been my life experience.

I agree with this. Is it a possibility?? Sure. Is it fully because of one’s experience and possibly trauma? Not at all.

I believe this as well. Just based on my own experiences and those close to me. Maybe there will be more research done in this area.

I honestly think that it's a big ploy to get a bunch of money half of the mental illnesses that people say we have or think we have yes they could be trauma-based and you are correct however there is a little tiny plug in our brain and when you insert so said experience is into it it's going to trigger things okay. I believe it's all a scam to get money out of us and keep us pump full of drugs so we don't have a clear head stop taking your medicine for a few months start some diet and exercise see what your mental clarity is like then cuz I'll tell you right now I've lost 80 lb I feel great I don't feel insane I don't feel stupid some days I feel down and depressed but I don't want to take all these pills every freaking day so I'm not going to if they find me out they find me out oh well yes I still get them at the pharmacy and I pay for them but I'm not putting all that stuff in my body no more I'm sick with it and no I haven't watched any of the videos of the person that you said but maybe I should look into it

I agree. Like as far as I know, illnesses like schizophrenia can lay dormant until it's triggered
