@judes I used to have a similar problem. If you would like, I can share links to the weight neutral social media accounts my dietician has me start following. That may also be a way to go. Most insurances (in the US, including state insurance) will cover a dietician if you get a referral from your primary care provider. I thought seeing a dietician was going to be a lot of eat this, not that. This is bad, this is good. But if you get an intuitive eating counselor, it's not like that at all. There is no restricting, only adding in things you already enjoy to add balance. My dietician helped me get my a1c from 11.2 (stroke territory) to 6.6 in three months without cutting foods I about. I've had to make changes, but they're all sustainable.

Some tips to quit binging on sugary foods include distracting yourself, eating saturating foods, limiting how much food you eat, and limiting availability to food. You could also try using sweets as a reward system instead of a crutch. Eating full, nutritious meals and allowing yourself a small sweet treat everyday can help. Drinking water or savorized water, chewing gum, and finding something to do like going for a walk or listening to music to get your mind off of eating can also be beneficial.
